Record the wearer and operating requirement

Prepare a life-jacket order as a model-by-model schedule. Record the intended application, wearer category and any equipment the wearer normally uses. An adult, child and infant version are not interchangeable. Foam life jackets and inflatable life jackets also have different preparation and maintenance requirements. Ask the supplier to identify the exact model and configuration against the applicable manufacturer documentation.

Plan documentation and servicing

Keep the quotation, product reference and supplied instructions together for each model. Ask which accessories are included and whether optional lights, covers or other components are required for the intended use. For inflatable models, confirm the relevant service arrangements and replacement components with the supplier. Do not infer suitability from a product photograph or use a training model as an operational life jacket.

Prepare the enquiry

For life jackets and personal flotation equipment, send the selected product reference, quantity and delivery area together. Add photographs, dimensions or a configuration list where they explain the requirement. Separate essential features from preferences so alternatives can be assessed properly. Review the final quotation against that brief, including VAT treatment, included components, additional work and the proposed delivery arrangement.
